RNLI volunteer crews across the South West rescued more than 1,500 people and saved scores of lives last year, the latest statistics have revealed.
In Cornwall, the charity's lifeboats were launched 461 times from its 14 stations across the county and assisted 442 people.
In total the Cornish crews saved 33 lives and spent a staggering 3,536 hours at sea.
Falmouth was the county's busiest station with the lifeboats being launched 84 times throughout the year.
